On June 24 annually, National Pralines Day is observed to celebrate the nutty, rich, and yummy confection that melts in your mouth.

Whether you love the delicate Belgian chocolate ones, the nutty French ones, or the creamy Southern ones, this day is dedicated to the sweet treat to have as many pralines as you want guilt-free.

Although it is not documented exactly when this day originated, it is believed to have its root in France.

According to some popular stories, the chef of César, Duke of Choiseul, Comte du Plessis-Praslin, Clément Lassagne, is responsible for creating praline.

The candy became associated with the duke's title, eventually giving rise to the name "praline."

After the arrival of French settlers in Louisiana, the original recipe was recreated with pecans in the place of almonds.

It got even softer and more indulgent with the addition of butter and cream that became a respected placeholder in New Orleans cuisine.

Celebrating National Praline Day

To celebrate National Pralines Day, you can start by having your favorite pralines to your heart’s content.

Pick them from your favorite place, try a new place, or make them fresh at home from scratch.

You can also use crushed pralines as a delicious topping for ice cream, cakes, cookies, or cheesecakes for an extra touch of sweetness.

Surprise friends, family, or coworkers with a box of pralines, or share photos of your favorite treats on social media using #NationalPralinesDay.

Whether you're discovering pralines for the first time or enjoying a longtime favorite, June 24 is the perfect day to indulge in this timeless candy and celebrate its rich culinary heritage.
